Understanding the Science of Color

Before you decide what colors you are going to add into a room in your home or office, it is really important to know what each color represents and what it can do to you psychologically and physiologically.

While you may love particular colors and really dislike others, you may decide to choose colors that you wouldn’t otherwise based on what your overall goals are for the space you are designing.  Color can be applied in the form of paint on wall, in furniture, artwork and accessories.  You may choose to go big and bold, or you may prefer a more subtle approach to your use of color.

Choosing colors for your sacred space will depend on what your desired intentions are for the room.  Have you ever wondered why some interiors of homes and businesses appeal to you, while others don’t?  Have you noticed that certain types of businesses use similar colors in their branding and physical appearance? Colors affect us psychologically and physiologically at the subconscious level. Each color stimulates different parts of our mind and can elicit both positive and negative feelings.

When you are decorating your home or business, it is important to know what each color means and why it should or should not be used in a particular room to create the atmosphere that you desire. Colors can be broken down into different categories of how they stimulate the senses.  Some colors are highly energetic, while others are calming and soothing.  Some colors are more neutral in how the body and mind respond.
